ONNE - June 2015 - The first sets of the Subsea Wellheads were fabricated in Nigeria by Oiltools Africa Limited (OAL); a subsidiary of AOSOrwell Limited- an indigenous Nigerian company. This fabrication scope of work included "Conductor Housing Component 36" x 2" and Wellhead Assembly Component 18 3/4"of which 44 sets must be delivered by April 2016 - the project completion date. The completion of the conductor housing and wellhead assembly is the evidence of the rewards of the investment into local capacity and collaboration with the OEM on executing this project locally. The work was carried out solely by OAL employees, forty four (44) in number spanning across core operations (heat treatment, welding, fitting, painting, grinding, bevelling and inspections), maintenance, Quality Control and logistics and all whom are Nigerians.
At commencement, technology transfer and training of Nigerian personnel were key performance indicators for the project and the staff were fully trained to execute Post weld heat transfer, TIG welding process and implementation and integration of latest procedures and technical specification for the project.
For OAL & AOSOrwell, this is a major contribution to the local content development and for the NCDMB, this is another evidence that the drive to increase local capacity and capability in-country is working.
With the delivery of this project, OAL is the only partner of choice for these projects in Nigeria.
