AOS Orwell joins women around the world in marking International Women’s Day 2022.
March is Women’s Month—a time to celebrate women’s achievements while drawing attention to issues that continue to affect equality, inclusion and opportunity.
Welcome to the month of March and to Women’s Month: a period set aside to celebrate, highlight and discuss important issues that may have been overlooked in the continued fight for women’s rights.
In 1975, the United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day and invited member states to recognise 8 March as a day dedicated to women’s rights and world peace.
The theme, “Break the Bias,” calls attention to the visible and less-visible forms of bias women experience within workplaces and across society.
Recognising the realities of workplace bias
Women continue to experience different forms of bias within and outside the workplace in Nigeria and around the world.
These challenges include gender inequality, persistent glass ceilings, income disparities, limited workplace inclusion and inadequate support for expectant and nursing mothers.
Addressing these issues requires more than awareness. It requires organisations and individuals to examine workplace culture, decision-making processes and the opportunities available to women.

These achievements demonstrate the importance of visibility, opportunity, support and representation. They also show what becomes possible when barriers are recognised and actively challenged.
AOS Orwell’s International Women’s Day event
In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2022, AOS Orwell will host a virtual event for its women.
The event will provide an opportunity for participants to listen, learn and network with seasoned and successful women who have challenged bias and broken barriers in their respective fields.
Meaningful conversations and professional networks can help more women develop confidence, access opportunity and pursue leadership.
